Gardners, PA (June 01, 2018): Zeigler Bros., Inc. announces the hiring of Dr. Scott Snyder as Nutritional Technology Manager. In his role, Scott will provide nutritional and technical support for domestic aquaculture production and customers as well as international licensees. Scott is no stranger to Zeigler, as a former employee whom has stayed in the industry to further his carrier in aquaculture. His knowledge and understanding of the company and the culture will provide great leadership and continued excellence for the company’s growth.
Dr. Scott Snyder obtained his Ph.D. in Animal Physiology from the University of Idaho. His dissertation research was on the molecular and physiological characterization of muscle growth regulation in rainbow trout selectively bred for the utilization of fishmeal alternatives. Scott has over 20 years of industry experience; prior to earning his graduate degree Scott spent nearly a decade managing one of the largest channel catfish farms in Arkansas, developing valuable operational experience. Following this time Scott spent 11 years as an agricultural scientist for the federal government. His major accomplishments were the identification of muscle yield differences between the two major cultured strains of Hybrid Striped Bass and work towards the development of temperature specific feed formulations and seasonal feeding regimens for this aquaculture species. In the last 5 years, Scott’s research has focused on the development of sustainable feeds for salmonids and improved nutrient availability for shrimp feeds. Scott’s involvement in diverse aquaculture projects have taken him throughout the US and abroad, working on animal nutrition projects in Mexico, China, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Scott has over a dozen refereed journal articles and published abstracts along with technical publications in The Advocate. Scott is active with the American Feed Industry Association and the World Aquaculture Society.
